The Serenity of the Harvest Moon and the Autumn Breeze
Experience the timeless tradition of Tsukimi (Moon Viewing) with this exquisite edo-kiriko sake glass. Inspired by the August motif of hanafuda playing cards, the Moon and Susuki Grass (Susuki ni Tsuki) glass captures the poetic stillness of a moonlit night and the sublime beauty of the lunar glow.
The Tale of the Harvest Moon The motif of the moon over the autumn hill represents abundance, enlightenment, and peaceful contemplation. Against a vibrant red backdrop that evokes the deepening twilight, a large, brilliant white moon is carved with bold precision. At the base, a field of Susuki (pampas grass) sways in the night wind, rendered with delicate shading using advanced sandblasting techniques. This minimalist yet powerful design embodies the Japanese aesthetic of "Wabi-sabi"—finding beauty in simplicity and nature.
A Luminous Drinking Experience Through the artisan's touch, the moon appears to glow with a soft radiance, while the dark hills below provide a stunning contrast in depth. As you pour your sake, the light plays through the translucent carvings, making the moon appear even more vivid. It is more than a glass; it is an invitation to hold the beauty of the night sky in the palm of your hand.
The Art of Edo Cased Glass These cups are made using the Kise-garasu (Cased Glass) method—a rare technique where a layer of colored glass is fused over clear glass. Unlike painted glassware, the designs are permanently carved into the glass itself and will never peel.
