What is Artisano?

Bringing shokunin to the world

Artisano is a marketplace where Japan's shokunin - master artisans and craftspeople - can open a global shop and take their creations to the world. Long inaccessible, hidden away in small workshops and rural towns, our goal is to help bridge the gap between these incredible shokunin and people from around the world. Through Artisano, we share with you not only their products, but also their stories, their traditions, and their passion for their craft.

Keeping craft traditions alive

Japan is a nation of artisans, many of whom are carrying on ancient traditions in multi-generational family workshops. Unfortunately in recent years, the number of artisans has been on a decline as fewer young apprentices feel that it's possible to make a living from their craft. Our dream is to open up Japan's workshops to the world, and do our part to help keep these centuries-old traditions alive for future generations.
